A Day in the Life of Your Preschooler

 

8:05              Pledge, Patriot Songs, Lunch Count, Check folders

8:15             Circle Time/Language Arts/Literacy-The children sit on the

  floor and we discuss the day’s schedule, calendar, sing songs,

shared reading, story time, unit of the week, letter of the week , etc.

9:00              Snack Time

9:15              Recess/Outdoor Play

9:30              Learning Centers

                   We have many different centers in our classroom. Learning

Centers is the heart of your child’s day. 

Block Center : With an abundance of wooden blocks at your

  child’s disposal, he/she will enjoy creative play as he/she builds

bridges and buildings then, knocks them down.  All the while,

  he/she will be learning important math concepts like patterns

  and symmetry. 

Library Center : In this area, your child will find a restful haven

  for exploring books.

Art Center : Using brushes, paints, markers, crayons, paper,

and play doh, your child will make decisions, experiment with

self –expressions, and problem solve with his/her personal flair. 

Math/ Manipulative Center : By using interlocking plastic blocks,

  puzzles, beads, lacing cards, and other material, preschoolers

  will discover early math concepts like size relations and patterns

  and develop visual/ spatial awareness.

Science Center : Here, your child will use tools like magnets and

magnifying glasses to explore our class pets, rocks, snakeskins,

and shells.

Dramatic Play Center :  Today, your child might be a firefighter,

  tomorrow a cook.  With an assortment of dress clothes, kitchenware,

plastic props such as phones, dolls, food, your child can find out

what it’s like to be in someone else’s shoes-, which helps him

  develop empathy. 

 

 

Computer Center : Your child will learn to play games and use

  Computer equipment in this center.

Teacher Directed Table : At this center, your children will

complete activities or games that are teacher directed. 

10:30            Clean up Centers, Restroom, get ready for lunch

10:50-11:20 Lunch

11:20             Monday- Wednsday-Saxon Math  your child will be learning                    many concepts in math- counting, shapes, money, time

                        Journal Writing ( Not everyday)– Your child will be drawing and writing in their spiral notebook about certain topics we are studying.

                   Thursday & Friday - Art-play doh  or painting

12:00            Free Play Centers (At this time, your child will choose                               their favorite centers to play in.  As in the morning, they have                     assigned centers.)

12:30-1:20     PE/Conference Time (This is the time you can schedule to meet with me, if needed.)

                   Restroom

1:30              Rest Time

2:30              Snack

2:50              Get Ready to go home

3:10              Dismissal
